Rainforest Ziplining: A Flight of Fancy
Ziplining Through Emerald Canopies
The humid air hung heavy, thick with the scent of damp earth and blooming orchids. High above the rainforest floor, a symphony of unseen creatures filled the air as I soared through the emerald canopy. Ziplining in Mindo felt less like an activity, and more like a communion with nature. The rush of wind, the vibrant green blur below – a breathtaking dance between speed and serenity.
Later, deeper into the Chocó Andino de Pichincha, the experience shifted. The ziplines here, carved into the steeper slopes, offered a different kind of thrill; a longer, more sustained flight, punctuated by glimpses of the cloud forest far below. I remember pausing on one platform, noticing the tiny hummingbirds darting amongst the vibrant heliconias – a truly special moment. It reminded me of the local legend of how the hummingbirds got their colours – a story woven into the very fabric of this stunning landscape.
